France - Normandy Day 3 - Canadian Juno Beach Center

The Canadian Juno Beach center was impressive, informative and sobering.
The rooms were very similar to Federal museums in Canada: colorful, interactive and for all ages.
This statement made me pause and reflect, "When the people are hungry democracy is in danger".
Each room had a definitive flow. We planned on spending two hours here but three and a half went by before we knew it.
One of the many propaganda posters made in Canada to support the war.
This is the landing plan for D-Day. Click on it to see which Canadian regiments landed where. My Grandfather's regiment, the North Shore's, landed without him on the Eastern beach. He missed it due to pneumonia.
A picture of the North Shore's in Alligators which were amphibious vehicles.
Another picture of the North Shore's in battle for a town.
A YMCA tea truck which served over a million soldiers. Recently we had a Tim Horten's in Afghanistan for the troops.
 German defense trenches.
A First Nations Canadian soldier receiving a blessing.
10% of the total number of Canadian First Nations volunteered and fought in WW2. Here is one fellow receiving a medal.
 A very well made diorama.
This hall was geared to showcase what Canada has to offer the world and also has immigrant stories. They were very touching. I have found that Canada is one nation made up of many people. Everyone is Canadian but also bring something more. That something is able to be proudly shared with others who, for the most part, want to experience it too. What was culturally inherent and unique is mirrored and amplified throughout its populace to be what I call Canada. Its not just a place...its not just my home...its a truly intangible multicultural assortment of awesomeness.
Another propaganda poster with the British Lion and the Canadian beaver.
