Guildball Complete Mortician Team

 I have now completed the entirety of the Mortician team for Guildball. Although the game is no longer supported by Steamforged (besides the free rules, standees, player cards, and more resources here) the group at Longshanks have been supporting the game with retweeked player cards to keep the game alive.

The team captains are, from left to right, Obulus, Scalpel, and Mourn.

Mascots are Dirge and Vileswarm. In the middle is a Mortician themed ball from BrokenToad.

The first group of squaddies are Silence, Cosette, and Brainpan & Memory.

The second group of squaddies are Veteran Hemlocke, Graves, Veteran Graves, and Gaffer.

The last of the squaddies, on larger bases, are Ghast, Bonesaw, and Casket.

Although the game is no longer supported by Steamforged some of my friends still like to play and I am happy to do so.

Morticians - Gaffer

Gaffer was in the last wave of models for the Guildball miniature game from Steamforged, before they stopped support and production of the game. It is also the last model of the Morticians that I needed to paint for the Mortician's team. It is on a 30mm base. The model is a good support: makes pushes, have friendly models make an attack, adds one damage to playbooks and character plays in an aura around it, and for a legendary play can add momentum that the opposing player gains in an aura around it.

Metals painted Cold Steel and highlighted with Radiant Platinum. Hair painted Battlefield Brown and drybrushed Bloodtracker Brown. Mask painted Menoth White Highlight and drybrushed Army Painter Matt White. Cloth wrappings painted Jackbone and drybrushed Menoth White Highlight. Hovering spirit painted Gnarls Green, drybrushed Iosan Green, and lightly drybrushed Necrotite Green.

To make the textured base I used  the Sanctuary Basius 2 plate, painted it dollarstore black, heavily drybrushed Cryx Bane Base, drybrushed Cryx Grey Highlight, lightly drybrushed Trollblood Base. Model was washed with Agrax Earthshade. Hovering spirit lightly drybrushed mix Necrotite Green and Army Painter Matt White. Outer rim of base painted Greycoat Grey. A silver paint pen was used for the model name.

Back to Gaming

 Recent days were action packed for miniature and detailed board gaming, since before the pandemic. Firstly I played Guildball with a friend and although we didn't have time to finish it, because we had not played in over a year, we still had great fun. Although Steamforged is no longer making models or updating rules, Longshanks has begun the process of providing player errata and plans to move to more corrections and such.

At another friends place we had both taken the day off and started games early till supper. First we played the Middle Earth Strategy game by Games Workshop. It is not rank and file but more robust skirmish game. It was fun, fast, and had easy to understand rules. I'd play it again.

We then played two boardgames: SpaceCorp 2025-2300 and Men of Iron Agincourt intro scenario in the Tripack box, both by GMT. They were also good boardgames that I would play again, in particular SpaceCorp 2025-2300 because of the three era of space exploration and expansion.

Morticians - Mourn

Mourn is the third captain for the Mortician's team. It is on a 30mm base. The model makes multiple dodges, can dodge other friendly models, adds TAC to friendly models, and messes up with opponents plans.

Morticians - Veteran Hemlocke

Another player with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Veteran Hemlocke. Its on a 30mm base. Can remove conditions and drops poison.

Morticians - Brainpan and Memory

Another player with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Brainpan and Memory (the little guy). They are on a 30mm base. Unusual models, Brainpan can do some movement shenanigans and Memory can cut up its opponents quite nicely.

Another player with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Casket. Its on a 40mm base. Has a zone of rough terrain for enemies,

Morticians - Bonesaw

Another player with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Bonesaw. Its on a 50mm base. Can jog for free at the beginning of his activation, is a great kicker (especially with meditation), and dodges easily from foes.

A captain with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Scalpel. Its on a 30mm base. Great movement, damage, and can move other models

Another player with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Cosette. Its on a 30mm base. Can charge for free, dodge away if damaged someone, and adds a TAC and damage point if Dirge is engaged with the same model.

Another player with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Graves. Its on a 30mm base. Can tool up himself or others for more damage, causes bleed if damages, has anatomical persision, and has a 2" damage everyone aura on a strong attack result.

Morticians - Ghast

Another player with the Morticians for the Guildball game is Ghast. Its on a 40mm base. It takes an extra influence to target him the first time in a turn with an attack of character play plus generates two momentum to Ghasts team when first damaged during a turn.

Morticians - Dirge

Dirge is a  Morticians mascot. Its very fast, can give singled out, and works very well with Cosset.

Eyes painted Khador Red and dotted with Cygnar Yellow.

Post painted Battlefield Brown, drybrushed Bloodstone, lightly drybrushed Beast Hide. Skull painted Menoth White and drybrushed Morrow White. Mortician symbol painted Quicksilver. Metal on post painted Cold Steel.

Morticians - Obulus

Since I finished the Ratcatchers for Guildball, its time to move onto the Morticians. Obulus was the first captain made and because I participated in the kickstarter I have the special sculpt of the model.

Metals painted Quicksilver.

Ratcatchers - Goal and Balls

The Ratcatchers guild box comes with a goal, terrain (rough ground), and a ball. I also painted the Broken Toad kickstarter ball for the Ratcatchers. They were painted with mostly dollarstore paints.

Ratcatchers - Squeak

Squeak is the mascot of the Ratcatchers. It can move opponent's models and gains extra results if the defender has less wounds than it.

Primed Krylon white. Back Leather armour painted Umbral Umber, drybrushed Iridian Flesh, lightly drybrushed Beast Hide. Leather straps painted Iridian Flesh, drybrushed Beast Hide, and lightly drybrushed Rucksack Tan. Fur painted Thamar Black, drybrushed Greycoat Grey, lightly drybrushed Cryx Bane Base, then even lighter drybrushed Cryx Bane Highlight. Teeth  and skull painted Menoth White Highlight. Tail painted Carnal Pink. Rock painted various greys.

I removed the plastic bases they came attached to and used the Basius 2 Dungeon plate. It was painted with Cryx Bane Base, drybrushed Cryx Bane Highlight, then lighter drybrush of Trollblood Highlight. The entire model was washed with Agrax Earthshade. Outer rim painted Cryx Bane Highlight.
