Armorcast Fuel Containers

I picked up these classic Armorcast fuel containers almost a couple of decades ago. I got it for GW 40k games but since I do not play that at this time I can use it for a variety of games. The kit had the resin base and tops for the cans, you just had to provide the cans themselves. I used tall cans.

I painted the base and tops of the cans with various dollarstore paints. The cans themselves were primed black and sprayed silver. 

After the silver, I put marmite in streaks then sprayed with either the white, red, or blue spray. I then used a toothbrush to gently scrub the marmite off. Now it looks aged and well used. After that it just needed black numbering and a wash of 5:1 water and wood stain.

I also glued metal disks on the bottom and glued magnets on the bottom of the cans to hold them on the base a bit more securely. Now this project is done.

Armorcast Japanese Wooden Bridge

I bought this over ten years ago and felt it could use some paint. It is an old Armorcast design when they used to do all kinds of terrain for different eras and generes. Its a Japanese wooden bridge and was painted with dollarstore paints (dark brown rough drybrush, brown drybrush, brown with yellow light drybrush, brown with more yellow lighter drybrush). Its made for 25-28mm scale but good for smaller scales.

Armorcast Building

 An old Armorcast building I've had laying around for a few decades, made for Battletech scale games. Now I will use it for any small scale games. Painted with Dollarstore paints.

Armorcast - Ruined Buildings

From Armorcast, these OOP buildings were acquired in a gamestore sometime during my travels during the last two decades. They have the ability to have partial second floors and are designed for 25-28mm scale. With the 32mm scale Batman models, they are a little small but will do just fine. Even though these are OOP the Armorcast company does have a range of ruined building corners available here.

 I primed it black, then added layers of dark to light dollarstore red paint. For the doors it was a red/yellow blend. For the windows to simulate broken glass, I used dollarstore light blue then applied a wash to it.

I also added some signage, election posters (Elect Galavan for Mayor from the Gotham TV series), and police tape. I used Gorilla Wood glue on the back and front of the signs and tape. It dries clear.

Its good to have some rough terrain in the game and once I make some ruined building interior, from leftover model sprues, it should look a little better.

Modular Stucco Buildings - Part 3 of 3

The walls are a little plain for the crime ridden streets of Gotham.I sought out and printer many images from the internet that had connections to the world of Batman or had Gotham in the title. On some I used GW Seraphim Sepia to age them. I then used a little craft/wood glue on the back side to affix them to the buildings and a little watered down glue for the frount. The following are a few sides of the buildings.

Modular Stucco Buildings - Part 2 of 3

My roofs are a little bare for a Batman and Gotham centered miniature game. I've had the HO Modulars "Roof Details" for about ten years but never used it. I had bought it for Warhammer 40k scenery that materialized when my friends stopped playing. Although it is HO scale it looks good beside the 35mm Batman figure.

 From above it looks like city rooftops would look like as well.

 I'm not gluing them on so that I can change up things, have them removed by brutes, or destroyed by damage.

I also made some boarded up window features out of popsicle sticks. Those I did glue on for convenience sake. I did not do it to all the buildings, just a large and small one.

Next up is signage and graffiti!

Modular Stucco Buildings - Part 1 of 3

Now that I'm starting to get things together to play the Batman Miniature Game, I need more modern terrain. For buildings, I found in my basement some Armorcast "Modular Stucco Buildings" still in the plastic packaging that I bought over ten years ago to play Warhammer 40k. These buildings are currently discontinued but the company will be making new molds sometime in the future.

The scale is 25mm so the doorways, windows, and interiors are a bit off. By not having middle floors on the two story structures I will mitigate this difference.

 I washed the heck out of the resin walls before gluing them together with JB Quickweld. This is because resin models, in particular old resin, has a film on it that is used in the manufacturing process that prevents paint from sticking.

 I sprayed it with Krylon black paint and primer. It was painted and drybrushed with dollar store paints. My wife commented that the roofs look a little bright but that may be solves later in step three of this three part project.

They can also be "combined" to make one big structure. Now onto step two.

Industrial Pipe Terrain

Here is the Industrial pipe terrain. Made by Armorcast a long time ago.

I used dollarstore paints and drybrush techniques.

Armorcast Pipe Walls

Next up for terrain is the Armorcast Pipe Wall system. These pipe walls provide cover and are also reconfigurable.

They were primed black Krylon and drybrushed with dollar store paints (very dark grey, light grey, light grey/silver 50/50 mix, and various colors for the controls).

Armorcast - Overhead Pipe System

 I remember in the 90's when Armorcast was one of the only terrain makers around. In the early 2000's I bought some of their products here and there for Warhammer 40k but never painted them. Now I'm muckling down and getting it ready for the tabletop starting with this overhead pipe system.

The come apart and go together easily. They were primed black, heavily drybrushed dark dollarstore grey and drybrushed dollarstore silver. Some dollarstore dark and light greens were used on the wiring with dollarstore orange on the buttons.

 Its good for Warmachine. I can see jacks and beasts either taking a movement penalty to go under or trying to damage them and possibly setting an explosion. Could be cool for scenarios.

 Also good for Malifaux.

 And for Infinity as well.

 Because they can come apart and together, they can make different configurations. They also store nicely.

If I was on a smaller budget, I suppose the same thing could be made with plastic items, plasticard and straws.

Tech Bridge

From Armorcast, the Tech Bridge is a very nice one piece terrain item. Armorcast was a company that made the original Warhammer 40k titans and many other GW licenced items. They restructured after being bought out and are now making new items and many of the original ones. For more details on this story go here. This kit was originally made in 1998 but is now being remade as of 2007.

 The wood bits were painted in P3 Bootstrap Leather and drybrushed with P3 Gun Corps Brown. The exposed pipes were painted with GW Dwarf Bronze. Some metal plating was lightly drybrushed with GW Tin Bitz.

 The whole thing was given a wash with watered down dollarstore brown to give it a rusty look. There is room for two 50mm based side by side on most parts of the bridge.

The angle of the slope and parts sticking up is enough to keep the models from sliding. A very important part of gaming. This bridge would be appropriate for just about any game system: Infinity, 40k, Malifaux and Warmachine. Even good for smaller scales.

Now that I have tidied and organized my crawlspace more, I will be painting more of the Armorcast and JR Miniatures terrain that I have rediscovered.
