Serena Bowman is Neverborn faction model for the Malifaux Miniature game. The model can come back into play at the end of the turn in the model's deployment zone. May also not be charged, ignores pulses, and has an attack that works very well with friendly models with the black blood ability. Can also give friendly nightmare models the black blood ability and had one point upgrades for minions and enforcers that not only make them nightmares but allows them to deploy at least six inches from the enemy deployment zone. Also once Serena kills an enemy model with its melee attack forces the enemy to have to discard a card to attack it till the end of the game.

Wrath - Crossroad 7
Lead singer for the Malifaux Crossroad 7 band, Wrath likes to charge into things and do extra damage to models near him. As a henchman, he can lead crews and get the extra action as a master if he leads only Crossroad 7 models. All the Crossroad 7 models are mercenaries too.

Insidious Madness
Insidious Madness is a Neverborn model that makes willpower duals nearby more difficult. This is the old metal model but a new plastic pack of three is due out March 2016. Unfortunately you can only have three in your crew so I may have to put two of the plastics on the same base or something.
Primed white, I slopped on Trollblood Base, then drybrushed Meridius Blue and lightly drybrushed Underbelly Blue. I then applied Ashuruman Blue wash. The purple bits are painted with Sanguine Highlight and dotted with Necrotite Green.
The teeth ate painted with Menoth White and washed with Gryphon Sepia. The whole model was then washed with Earthshade. No Basius 2 base for this one, as it was already glued in. Just used GW stone and flock.

Blood Wretches
The two player starter box comes with two gangs of four models each. One is Neverborn and one is Guild. I decided to put paint up my Neverborn gang to add to my Nekima gang I’m using in the Shifting Loyalties campaign. What is also nice about the models in the two player starter is that they are all mercenaries so you can use them in any faction, with an extra soulstone.
The base was painted with Iosian Green and drybrushed with 50/50 Iosian Green and Menoth White Highlight, in order to look like a sanitarium floor. The base molds were done with the Basius 2 Dungeon plate.

Neverborn Tuco
Tuco was a family member of the Ortega family
before he was captured by the nephilium. The tortured him and warped his
mind. Now he’s a nephilium himself and out for revenge.
This model will be the last Neverborn model I’ll
paint for a while. For Malifaux models I want to concentrate on one faction, the Guild, and
mercenaries they can use for the next few years. That way I’ll have a
selection of masters and models to use in games and
tournaments.
So I primed Krylon Black, then a rough drybrush with P3 Battlefield Brown. Then the lower jacket was drybrushed with P3 Bootstrap Leather and lightly drybrushed with P3 Rucksack Tan. I then washed the lower jacket with GW Baal Red. The upper part of the jacket, hands, shotgun and face was painted in P3 Thamar Black. Then the upper jacket was drybrushed with P3 Greatcoat Grey and lightly drybrushed with P3 Cryx Bane Highlight.
The face and hands were drybrushed with P3 Ryn Flesh and washed with GW
Baal Red. Parts of the shotgun were painted with P3 Pig Iron and the
hair was painted with P3 Coal Black. The horns were painted with P3
Menoth White Highlight and washed with GW Gryphon Sepia. The whole model
was then washed with GW Devlan Mud.
The base was flocked and some Army Painter Meadow Grass was put in the back and an IMEX cactus was put in the front.

This model is also the first of my “free time”
models. This is the first time I met this mark since I started this plan
and its my desk job that I have to thank for that. I always plan to
make 260 points worth of models (five points per
week). I calculate each mass production model being one point (like 40k
marines or Cygnar Longgunners), solos and cavalry and individual models
being two points, jacks and larger models being three and vehicles
being five. Being ahead of schedule is really
relaxing but I’ll still paint models I either need now or in the near
future to keep ahead of schedule.

Neverborn Lilitu
Lilitu is the other half of the nephilium woe, Lelu.
First sprayed with black the model's skin was painted in P3 Exile Blue, then drybrushed with P3 Cygner Blue Highlight and then lightly drybrushed with 50/50 P3 Frostbite and P3 Cygnar Blue Highlight. P3 Thamar black was used ont he hair which was given a drybrush of P3 Greycoat Grey and a lighter drybrush of P3 Ironhull Grey. The dress was painted with P3 Skorne Red, drybrushed P3 Khador Red Base and lightly drybrushed 2/1 P3 Khador Red Base and Frostbite. The whip was drybrushed with P3 Cold Steel and lightly drybrushed P3 Quicksilver. The horns were painted with P3 Bootstrap Leather, drybrushed with P3 Rucksack Tan and lightly drybrushed with P3 Menoth White Highlight. I then used a red painting pen on the lips and a silver pern on the metallic bits. The dress was washed with GW Baal Red, the horns with GW Gryphon Sepia and the skin with GW Ashuruman Blue. The whole body was then washed with GW Devlan Mud.
I look forward to using this model in future games. Now only Tuco remains for my nephilium!

Neverborn Lelu
Lelu is a nephilium and the woe of masocism and plays well with his twin, Lilitu. The first game I played with him, it was against Sonnia Crid and because he is bonded with Lilitu, they both would get the condition one of them would. Ouch.
I started primed black. Then the skin got a rough brush with P3 Skorne Red then drybrushed P3 Khador Red Base then a lighter drybrush with 50/50 P3 Frostbite and Khador Red Base. The pants and leather parts were redone with P3 Thamar Black, drybrushed with P3 Greycoat Grey then a lighter drybrush with P3 ironhull Grey. The horns were painted with P3 Bootstrap Leather then a lighter drybrush with P3 Rucksack Tan then an even lighter drybrush with P3 Menoth White Highlight. I then used a silver pen to do the buckle details. A wash over the skin was done with GW Baal Red, then the pants gor a light drybrushing with P3 Ironhul Grey and a super light drybrush or P3 Cryx Bane Highlight. Finally the horns were washed with GW Gryphon Sepia and the whole model washed with GW Devlan Mud.
I look forward to trying the twins out more.

Neverborn Lilith Avatar
This Lilith avatar model was easy to put together, with JB quickweld, and paint. I have not faced up against any avatars but with the new rules being beta tested I though I would get started on Lilith and Perdita avatars...before its too late.
The model was primed black. The tree and parts of Lilith was brushed with P3 Battlefield Brown, drybrushed with P3 Bootstrap Leather and lightly drybrushed with P3 Rucksack Tan. Lilith was painted with P3 Khardic Flesh then drybrushed with P3 Midlund Flesh and lightly drybrushed with P3 Ryn Flesh. The hair was done with P3 Skorne Red and drybrushed with P3 Khador Red Base. The transition areas between the tree and Lilith were drybrushed with P3 Underbelly Blue and lightly drybrushed with P3 Frostbite. The tree was washed with GW Ogryn Flesh, Lilith with GW Devlan Mud and the transition area with GW Asuruman Blue. GW Liche Purple was used around the base and lichen was used on the tree and the join from the base of the tree to the main trunk.
The result is good and simple and I look forward to manifesting her on the tabletop.

Neverborn Nekima
Nekima is a Nephilium model I have not played against or with. For completeness, and because I bought her cheap, I decided to give this model a go. Even though the game is 32mm the Nekima model is about double the height of other models! It also was a tough model to stay in the lines but I am proud of the paint job on the wings.
Primed black. P3 Khardic Flesh on body and wings then drybrushed P3 Midlund Flesh. The body was then lightly drybrushed with P3 Ryn flesh while the wings were lightly drybrushed with P3 Cygnar Yellow. The wings were then washed with GW Baal Red. The leggings and bikini were painted with P3 Skorne Red then a lighter red color (unknown as I neglected to write it down). The base was then painted with P3 Greycoat Grey then drybrushed with P3 Cryx Bane Highlight and finally lightly drybrushed with P3 Trollblood Highlight. The horns and wing struts were painted with P3 Bootstrap Leather and drybrushed with P3 Rucksack Tan. The sword and metal bits were painted with P3 Ironhull Grey and lightly drybrushed with P3 Quicksilver and touched up with P3 Solid Gold. The boots and back of the bikini/robe were painted with P3 Thamer Black and then drybrushed with P3 Frostbite. The gold details were done with a gold metallic pen. The wings were washed with GW Ogryn Flesh and the body with GW Devlan Mud.
I hope to use her as a henchmen of the Nephilium sometime soon.

Neverborn Teddy
Having played against Teddy in the Malifaux skirmish miniatures game, I wanted to add him to my Neverborn Nephilium forces.
I started primed black. Then a rough drybrush with P3 Battlefield Brown, a lighter drybrush in P3 Bootstrap Leather and an even lighter drybrush in P3 Rucksack Tan. The stomach and paws were done with P3 Trollblood Base then drybrushed P3 Meridius Blue and lightly detailed with P3 Menoth White Highlight, to make it seem souls were struggling inside. The teeth were painted with P3 Menoth White Highlight. The gums and claws were painted with GW Scab Red then P3 Skorne red and finally P3 Skorne red mixed with P3 Menoth White Highlight. The gums and eyesockets were painted with P3 Coal Black. The eyes were then painted with P3 Necrotite Green.
I then made the base with air drying clay, painted the cracks with P3 Thamar Black. The wood was painted with P3 Bootstrap Leather and lightly drybrushed witth P3 Rucksack Tan. Teddy was then washed in GW Gryphon Sepia and the base painted with GW Liche Purple.
The silver was put on with a metal ink pen. Much cleaner than painting by hand for me.
I have not used him yet but he's waiting...in the shadows.

The bottom the the skirt was done with P3 Meridius Blue. The upper skirt and hairpiece was done with P3 Khador Red Base and drybrushed with P3 Khador Red Highlight. The bottom the the skirt and body was drybrushed with P3 Frostbite. P3 Bootsrap Leather was used ont he belt and drybrushed with P3 Rucksack Tan. The forarms were washed with GW Badab Black to make it look like nylons or something. The gold parts were painted with P3 Rhulic Gold. The mask was painted with P3 Cygnar Yellow and drybrushed with P3 Solid Gold. The dagger and metal bits were painted with P3 Ironhull Grey and drybrushed with P3 Quick Silver.
The whole model was washed with GW Devlan Mud. The base was done with the air drying clay and dollar store paints. The outer base was painted with GW Lich Purple.

Lucius, the Governor's Secretary
Lucius, a Guild and Neverborn model in the Wyrd Miniatures Malifaux game, is a different kind of master.
Being both Guild and Neverborn he has upgrades that can make him a surprise on the tabletop.
I started painting him by spraying him black. Then rough drybrushing P3 Greycoat Grey and drybrushing P3 Ironhull Grey for his pants. I used P3 Thamar Black on his boots and drybrushed them with P3 Greatcoat Grey. I then mixed 50/50 P3 Exile Blue and P3 Menoth White Highlight on his pants and on his gloves. The coat was painted P3 Skorne Red and drybrushed with P3 Khador Red Base. P3 Rhulic Gold was used on the gold parts and metal bits P3 Silver.
His hair was painted with P3 Menoth White Highlight and drybrushed with P3 Morrow White. His hair and gloves were given a GW Purple Wash and the whole model given a wash in GW Devlan Mud. The base was given my streets of Malifaux air drying clay treatment.
I look forward to trying out this model after I play Perdita more in the second edition rules.

Gottacon 2014 - Friday
Gottacon this year was held at the Victoria Convention Center, which is directly behind the Empress Hotel. Gottacon's Facebook page is here.
I took the day off Friday to get my badge early because of the wickedly long lineups last year. After I got my badge I walked around the convention for several hours talking to people at the booths, store owners and friends...until I tried to leave for a Chai Latte at Liberty Cafe. I was politely informed that the convention opens officially at 5pm and that I should not have been allowed to wander through the convention area. Oops. Since it was still a few hours before that time I read a book while enjoying my drink at Liberty Cafe.
On Friday night and Sunday I played in two Malifaux Tournaments. The folks I played against were the same great bunch, with some changes, that I played against the previous two years.
In total over the two tournaments I played six games and won two. I learned a lot about my Lilith Neverborn forces and about what other crews can do. I also liked the terrain that was used.
After my Friday game I went home for the night.

Neverborn Nephilium Barbados, Terror Tots, Young and Mature
I picked up a new plastic Lilith box set and the new larger Nephilium pack recently to add to my older metal Lilith set. This is because of the new upgrade, Rapid Growth, in Malifaux 2E that allows you to summon the next larger Nephilium once a model kills another model. That means I need more of each type.
I painted these guys similarly to my metal Terror Tots models here. I just substituted P3 paints for GW paints for most colors. I started primed black, then P3 Khador Red Base, then drybrushed GW Red Gore. Then lighter drybrush of P3 Midlund Flesh and a light touch of GW Elf Flesh. The loincloth was P3 Meridius Blue then drybrushed P3 Arcane Blue. The horns were painted P3 Menoth White Highlight. The metal parts were painted P3 Ironhull Grey and drybrushed P3 Cold Steel and a lighter drybrush of P3 Quick Silver. They were then washed with GW Purple. Then I based them the same as my metal Lilith Gang here.
My new plastic Young Nephiliums followed my metal young Nephilium here.Same as the Terror Tots for paint except more of the fleshes were drybrushed on to show they had grown more skin.
As per above.
Barbaros followed my metal young Nephilium above.
My Mature Nephilium followed my metal one here. I drybrushed even more flesh color on for the reason above.
The only problem was basing all these models. I am worried that because they are not affixed to the base but rather tot he hardened clay on the base that they can come off in the future. We shall see.
