Carnevale was a kickstarter I participated in last year, from Vesper-On games. It is set in Venice and is a narritive skirmish miniatures game in the 18th century after a rip in the universe appears above Italy and disrupts Europe and the world with the weird power coming out from it. It changes and alters people and others have appeared over the world. I became interested in it during their first kickstarter that never got off the ground. After their second kickstarter gained momentum and I saw their Beats of War videos, I participated. Now they are here.
The rulebook also came with a smaller reference rulebook for ease of transport.
The book had good art and was well laid out. This art features one of the gifted, the White Dove.
Each model gets a page of naratitive and rules.
At the back they have painted models on display, much better painted than my ability can currently provide.
Here is the Patrician faction female noble. She comes with a fan in her right hand.
The Patrician faction butler.
The Patrician faction courtesan.
I like the quality of the models although they are not as good as the other Spanish game I play, Infinity. I purposefully chose the two factions (Patricians and Guild, with a few gifted) that have a lesser amount of altered beings. I wanted this as a change from the other games that I have with fantastical races and creatures.
They also included a miniature from their new 1:1 scale game, Home Raiders, about little people who travel to peoples homes and battle other factions for items. The idea seemed cute and fun but...I'll say this again like I always do...I don't need another miniature game.
I'll start painting the Carnevale figures next year and make some Venetian terrain, that I can also use for Malifaux.
