Frostgrave 2nd Edition

 Frostgrave 2nd Edition is a great skirmish fantasy themed game from Osprey and its creator, Joseph A. McCullough. In it, you make a wizard (one of several schools of wizardry) and his band in order to go into the rediscovered lost city of Frostgrave. 

The campaign system looks like a lot of fun. There are also 20 scenarios to try for variety rather than the basic scenario. You can level your wizard up and improve your band, lair, statistics, and spells. Other books provide rules for solo play, cooperative play, more scenarios, more creatures, people to hire, large and small campaign stories, etc and are compatible with changes mentioned in the back of this 2nd edition book. 

Best of all even though North Star Miniatures makes official Frostgrave wizards, figures, creatures, and terrain...anything you have can be used. Being a roleplayer and miniature gamer of many decades, I'm looking forward to dusting off some painted and unpainted figures and terrain and seeing them on the tabletop.
