Gorman di Wulfe is a mercenary for the Warmachine miniatures game. He can be added to any army except the Retribution of Scyrah (elves). He has stealth, immune to fire and acid, can make smoke or toss grenades doing acidic, rust or black oil. Very handy little dude but fragile. I had him for a while but painted him after I kept on forgetting that my Black 13th only gains stealth when concealed, not in cover.
Primed black, I then painted everything with P3 Greatcoat Grey, drybrushed with P3 Thornwood Green and then lightly drybrushed with P3 Battlefield Green.
I used P3 Battlefield Brown on the boots, gloves, belt and shoulderpads. Then drybrushed them with P3 Hammerfall Khaki. Then I drybrushed them lightly with P3 Gun Corps Brown.
I then painted the jacket with P3 Coal Black and drybrushed it with P3 Battlefield Green and even lighter with P3 Rucksack Tan. Grenade bits I painted with P3 Bootstrap Leather and painted other bits and drybrushed the previous bits with P3 Gun Corps Brown.
The I then painted the acid flasks with GW Dark ANgels Green, drybrushed with GW Snot Green and Testors Gloss Neon Yellow. I then used P3 Cold steel on the metal parts. For the goggles I used P3 Arcane Blue then drybrushed with P3 Menoth White Highlight.
Finally a wash in Devlan mud, a drybrushing of the acid with GW Snot Green and a little Testors Neon Green again.

Angled Wall Fortifications
Also from JR Miniatures is the Angled Wall Fortifications. They are a little high for 28mm models to fire over but perfect for Warjacks and Vehicles.
I primed them with Krylon Black.
Then I brushed on dark dollarstore brown and drybrushed lighter dollarstore brown.
Then I used dark dollarstore grey then drybrushed lighter dollarstore grey. The metal parts were painted with GW Boltgun Metal.
Lastly I used GW Brazen Brass on the details. As you can see they can be used together of individually.

Dirt Piles
From JR Mini comes these Graveside dirt Mounds. They are cheap, go really well with my GW Gardens of Morr terrain, and is a good size. You could even have small black felt or foam cut out for the hole if you wanted (would make a good trench beside it).
I primed them with Krylon black.
Brushed roughly with dark brown dollarstore paint.
Drybrushed with lighter dollarstore brown.
Then painted the metal parts with GW Boltgun metal and the wooden handles with dollarstore tan.
The only complaint is that they chip easily so i'll have to spray some protective coating on them to make my paint last.

France - Paris Again Day 2 - French Resistance in Paris Exibition
At the Hotel de Ville, they had a free exhibition of the French Resistance in Paris
.The first section had pictures of life in Paris under the Nazi Germany regime.
This was a Jewish area after the Nazi's and Vichy French sent them away to concentration camps.
This picture is haunting to me because of the casualness of the women and the menacing look of the German officers on the left.
A secret suitcase radio.
A handbill telling those who are loyal to Charles De Gaul to sabotage, set fires and destroy the occupying forces equipment.
After the allies landed on D-Day and were advancing towards Paris, the resistance and loyal citizens organized roadblocks. I find the relaxing attitude these two have slightly amusing.
A map with Paris and the German roadblocks.
This fellow was a Chemistry professor at the Paris university making explosives for the Resistance.
Another roadblock with a defaced picture of Hitler.
Frenchmen gathering weapons. I like the smile the woman has on the left.
After some of France was liberated, Charles De Gaul encouraged a new French fighting force to be formed to assist the allies, called the FFI (French Forces of the Interior). It was an attempt to better organize the French Resistance with the Allies under one command.
This picture is of women suspected of colluding with the occupiers.
A call for people to open their homes to people returning from concentration camps. This not only included those of Jewish decent but prostitutes, homosexuals and anyone the Germans and Vichy did not like.
This Muslim hospital treated members of the French resistance. It was largely left alone because of the alliance the Germans had with the Ottoman Empire and the clever "plague" and virus outbreaks when Germans came to check things out.
Tintin magazine ran a special in 1949 on the liberation of Paris by General Leclerc, head of the 2nd Armored Division.
As a gamer, the actions of the French Resistance show that covert resistance works to redirect the enemies resources away from the front lines and give aid to allies battleplans. Once the allies neared Paris, the Resistance was important to the allies for local knowledge and an immediate police force.

France - Paris Again Day 2 - Musee de L'Armee - Later French Exibits
There is a section of the museum that encompasses the time period from the French Revolution of 1792 to the third French Republic in 1870. There is also currently a special exhibit centering on Napoleon the first's reign.
A model of the Bastille.
This is what a typical section looks like. Uniforms of the time period, paintings of famous personages of a particular battle or era, artifacts from that era and...
...a large table with a particular battle played out on it. They did an excellent job of setting up the battle including reasons for it then played it out from start to finish. By this point my wife and I were war museumed out and could have spent another day here. We had not even seen the WW1 and WW2 section yet. Another time.
In the Napoleon exhibit they had the painting of "Napoleon Crossing the Alps" by Jacques-Louis David in 1800. It is a magnificent painting full of symbolism and meaning. It is no wonder the image was put on pottery and copies made.
Lord Nelson's uniform he was wearing when shot at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The white hole in the left shoulder is the wound that killed him.
Napoleon's uniform.
Royal jewelry worn by Marie-Louise of Austria.
In the Napoleon exhibit they also show the other side of the stories. There was this impressive picture of Agustina de Aragon. She was a woman who fought in the Spanish war of Independence against the French as a civilian and when she entered the military, rose to the rank of Captain. She was an inspiration for the Spanish to throw off the French invaders and lived to 71 years of age.

France - Paris Again Day 2 - Musee de L'Armee - Weapons that Cannot Decide if they are Melee or Ranged
Sometimes a melee weapon isn't enough and you need that extra ranged oomph.
These two maces are also gunpowder guns. They shoot from the top. The one on the left was made in 1550. The one on the right was made for French King Henry the second around 1536 to 1542.
A falchon made in 1550 has a pistol in the hilt and the barrel in the spine of the sword.
Made in Germany in 1580, this sword stick with a pistol is all sorts of hidden nastiness.
Made for Nicolas de Lorraine in 1570, this triple bladed spear, with cutting blades, also has three pistols in between each spear blade. Ouch. This is steampunk well before steampunk was thought up.
Henry the fourth's sword pistol from 1600.

France - Paris Again Day 2 - Musee De L'Armee Ranged Weapons
Flintlocks from 1610 to 1630. They have LOTS of ones like this in the museum.
Wheelock pistol from 1600-1610.
A triple barreled wheelock pistol from 1610.
A Matchlock musketoon from 1620-1630. It has multiple chambers to load the shot ahead of time and fire repeatedly at an enemy.
Wheelock arquebuses from 1590 to 1600. The art on them in pearl is extraordinary.
These are handles on a large cannon of two lovers on each handle. How romantic to be on a cannon!
This lady is at the back of a cannon.
These are powder containers of all sorts with all sorts of art on them.
Miquelet gun made for King Phillip the fifth of Spain in 1715. This one had spare loaded chambers that one could insert and fire.
The classic ranged weapon, the crossbow. It was still used alongside of gunpowder weapons.
A metal goat's foot crossbow 1620-1640.
A grenade launcher from Napoleon's era! I had no idea they were made this early in time!
These are miniature steampunk style pistols from 1580.
