Guildball Tournament in Duncan, BC at Dicebaggames

I ran a friendly three round Guildball tournament in Duncan at a store called Dicebaggames. It was successfully held and fun was had by all. Nine people attended so I subbed in for the three games so none would be left without an honored opponent. Prizes for 1st place, best Painted team, best Goal, and best Sportsman were given out with certificates for 2nd and 3rd.

Things people liked were the terrain and terrain placement being the same for all pitches for each round. They also liked the rules of the terrain written right on the terrain itself. Things to consider for next time are keeping it casual and having some of the unusual style of tournaments (Captain my captain and Dodgeball for instance).

For my first miniature tournament the pre-planning helped a lot so that I could participate as a fill in player without interrupting the game too much for answering questions by other coaches. Look forward to the next one.

Not the winning goal but a fun one none the less.

 The winning painted team, Fishermen.

Dystopian Wars - Britannia Reinforcements

In order to get 1100 points of "good guy" allied to use with a friend's forces, I needed a few more ships to go with my Britannia forces. I chose another Tribal cruiser, a Lord Hood battle cruiser, and four Attacker frigates.
For the frigates, I painted them the same as my previously done Britannia navy ships but for the main body used Trollblood Base and drybrushed a mix of Trollblood Base and Menoth White Highlight. I was aiming for a WW2 Canadian corvette colour and I think I have achieved it.
The Lord Hood comes with a combat air patrol and has devastating guns. It will be a good addition to my forces.
Next I will carry on with my Prussian Navy and Air forces.

Tentacles

I have taken a little break from painting to take care of things. My first model finished after the break is the Guildball Fishermen mascot model for the second season, Tentacles! It holds onto the ball, squirts ink and is a nuisance to other players trying to get away from it.

The under tentacle bits and pimples were painted with Murderous Magenta and a drybrush for the suckers in Carnal Pink. The eyes were done in Heartsfire with a highlight of Cygnar Yellow.

The whole model was washed with GW Argrax Earthshade and some lichen was glued on with some more dollarstore glue used around the base to simulate water.

Sentry Box

Sentry Box is without a doubt the largest game store I have ever been in. Based in Calgary, Alberta it boasts over 13000 square feet of gaming items over two floors. There is plenty of parking in front and behind. The store has been running, at various places, since the early 1980's.
The upper area has some display cases with used miniatures for sale. The rest of it is dedicated for gaming space whether miniature, board, role playing or card games. It also has cool decor.
Going down the stairs (wheelchair entry available at the back) you are treated to tons of games. One note, if the price tag has an X after the price it is in US funds and you have to use the conversion sheets to determine the price in Canadian funds. That way the owner does not have to change prices whenever there is a huge fluctuation in currency up or down.
I spent a good three and a bit hours there on one day and an hour the next day. Its easy to see why. The stairs by the Darth Vader manikin, on the right, goes to the military and historical section. This could be a store in its own right.
If you are ever in Calgary, or passing near, its worth the stop!

Malifaux Child

The Malifaux Child is a totem but also a mercenary so can be hired by any master for an extra soulstone. It can also heal models and cannot be charged. This model shines when using its master's non-damage dealing casting actions, which it can cast itself. This is the 1e metal version of the plastic one out now but the sculpt has barely changed.
