I have solidified a Gaslands demo layout. Its on a 3 by 3 foot area and uses Death-race rules. Each player gets a car with a turreted machine gun.
The track goes from a long straightaway to a gentle turn through the first gate. From there to the second gate is easy but forces the player to take a tight turn to the third gate and an even tighter turn to the fourth. Then its a turn to the fifth, dodging around a destructible obstacle, and to get to the sixth gate two obstacles have to be dodged around.
This allows players to ease into the risk management of template picking. It also allows ease of firing at the leaders at the third, fourth, fifth gates. Some 4+ exploding destructible terrain is also just after the third gate to penalize people that cannot take the turn after the third gate.
